Went here for dinner last night and had some of the best food of our entire vacation. The garlic bread was so good I had to stop myself from eating too much of it. My wife, daughter, and I got two entrees to share: The tri-color pasta bake and chicken parmesan. The tricolor had a blend of red sauce, alfredo, and pesto. This sounds like it may not go well together, but somehow it worked and was very tasty. The chicken parm was also well-prepared and my daughter and I loved the marinara sauce that was prepared with a touch of red wine. We got two desserts to take back to our hotel for later. Chocolate espresso bread pudding and also triple chocolate mousse cake. I love bread pudding and was really looking forward to this. I was not disappointed! To quote Eric Cartman, "It was chocolaty and delicious." Same goes for the mousse cake. Nothing like an overload of chocolate to top off a wonderful day. If you are in Estes Park, definitely check out Mama Rosa's.

Really, a mouse running around? Chicken parmesan was absolutely boring, pasta was over cooked, salad was so so. Did I mention the mouse? I did to the server and no comp or discount, Never ever again. And we were sitting inside toward the back not far from the kitchen... Btw this place is a great candidate for restaurant impossible, the cleanliness, decor and food all need updating.

Love the location on the patio right by the river! The hostess staff were ok. Weren't overly friendly or accommodating. But we got sat on the patio within a 10 minute wait. Ordered the mini salads, pasta and marinara, and the meatball panini. The marinara was homemade but not the best I've ever had. Very watered down and not full of flavor like I anticipated The panini was very good. Couldnt tell if the meatballs were homemade but assume they weren't. Overall a decent experience

Highlight here is the fresh pasta. Sauces are surely home made, but while good are not fantastic. I had Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo for $23; pasta had a nice bite, but sauce was grainy and lacked that over the top incredible taste of a good quality Parmigiano. My wife had the Rigatoni with Tomato Cream and Herb Chicken. The chicken is crusted and fried, again not bad, but not great for $17. For dessert we had the Cannolli and Tapas Tiramisu, these were the highlights of the meal. Cannoll she'll was very light and crispy and abviously homemade, filling was a cream cheese with maybe some marscapone. The Tiramisu was equally good. We had the house red for $25 a bottle, California Merlot that was fruity and not bad for the price. If you want Italian, you'll get it, it will be good, but it's not like Mama's in my opinion.

We attended a Pre-Wedding dinner held here. Our Server 'Michael' was excellent -- although there were several Servers because our party was quite large. Their Iced Tea was excellent and Michael refilled it twice! I enjoyed their Salad with the house made Italian Dressing. Their Garlic Bread is the BEST that I have ever tasted!! I got the Fettucini and Meat Sauce and my Husband got their Ravioli with Cheese and Portobello Mushroom with a Tomato Cream Sauce. My only criticisms would be that their sauces are not seasoned enough for my taste and the temperature of the meal was tepid (bordering on cold), but we figured it might have sat there while all of the orders were prepared. The meal was followed by mini Cheesecakes and they were delightful, as well!! As a Footnote, Parking is absolutely AWFUL!!

Good ambiance, good service. The food was absolutely delicious. We had fried zucchini, meat lasagna, and grilled chicken Alfredo, with the house merlot. Everything tastes homemade, including the sauce and garlic bread. Dessert was tiramisu, and we finished every bite on a full stomach. Delicious! We can't wait to go back.

The food wasn't terrible, but it was somewhere between average and bad. It seemed to be canned ingredients dumped onto the plate and mixed together, which made the price tag (about $80 for two adults/two kids without tip) especially disappointing. I got their salmon and veggie plate, and half of the asparagus seemed like lengths of twine for sheer toughness, while the salmon itself was not fresh and very boring. I had a group of six eat there and nobody wanted to finish their meal, but we mostly did anyway out of hunger (while I had a pile of chewed asparagus left on my plate). The server was lovely and did a good job, and the hosts seemed to be competent as well. Then my son threw up all over the hotel room the next morning. All he had was the spaghetti, so this was extremely disappointing. It's possible he got altitude sickness from the trip to Rocky Mountain National Park earlier that day, but we live at just under 7000 feet, so I doubt that's the case. He's also a hardy little dude and didn't have an issue sprinting up the stairs at the RMNP visitor center at 12000 feet, so you be the judge. I would definitely not eat here again, and would recommend nobody else eat here either until/unless they fix the food quality problem (and possible cleanliness/sanitation issues).

My fiance and I walked into mama roses after reading the positive reviews. The atmosphere was nice if not a bit loud. I had a wonderful glass of wine but the positive experience ended there. My fiance and I both ordered their make your own pasta. He had grilled chicken Alfredo fettucine. I ordered the pesto rigatoni with grilled chicken. We received our salads to find almost no dressing on his ceaser. When our entrees arrived my pesto was swimming in olive oil. I'm used to pesto being oil heavy but five tablespoons in the bottom of my bowl is unacceptable. His pasta was not well made and tasted of flour and the sauce was paste like and so very bland. As a visitor to Estes park this was the most disappointing meal I've ever had. It was a total waste of $55! If you're going to charge $15 for pasta, which is crimanal to begin with, than it better be exceptional.

I'm glad we went here. Delicious vegetarian options. The garlic bread and salad they bring out are very good. We got the ricotta rollups for the appetizer- really good. Get the mushroom ravioli- very yummy and filling. Waitress recommended we do the build your own pasta so we got the linguini with tomato cream sauce and veggies. We loved it (except the zucchini was really bitter for some reason). Tiramisu for dessert was really good also. Great location on the river.

We saw this place on yelp and thought it faired above others. We were wrong. The food was mediocre at best and the staff seemed annoyed that we showed up. We were also initially overcharged and when I asked why, it was made out to be "my mistake". The only thing Italian about this place is the name. The food was cafeteria like and did not resemble any of the pictures. After having this experience, I asked a local about their thoughts and they said, "You should have eaten at Sweet Basilico Cafe."

The wait was less than expected given that we came at 7 PM. Everyone was very friendly and the service was pretty good. The salads were good. Vegetables were decent. The three stars were for the 'salmon and vegetables' and 'chicken and vegetables' dishes. Chicken was tough, and the salmon had to be sent back. Surface was discolored and it tasted awful. Wasn't charged for the salmon and got some tough chicken breast instead. Not bad, but main dishes were disappointing.

We wanted a good patio next to the river for our lunch, so we chose Mama's. Unfortunately, the last patio table was taken as we walked up so we chose to sit next to a window by the river. The inside of the restaurant is very elegant, so that was enjoyable. My husband and I shared the meal with two of our friends. I ordered the half lasagna, and my husband ordered a panini. My lasagna was pretty good, and my husband enjoyed his panini. It was not anything special, but it was a solid choice. The strange thing is that our friends ordered the fried zucchini, which came out with marinara sauce. When our friend asked for ranch dressing she was told that they did not have any which I find strange considering they have salad as a menu option and I've never been to a restaurant that does not have ranch as an option. Overall, it's a decent lunch choice in downtown Estes Park.

Checked in with who I'm guessing was the manager, she was sitting off to the side on her laptop. We requested outside seating and she abruptly gave me a pager. As we waited, I got to watch all the people come and go, generally good food reviews, but the staff was very poor. Someone, I'm assuming the owner or manager (older thin guy) from Poppys pizza came and sat with the disinterested female manager as she scrolled on her laptop. Once sat, 45 minutes later, food was pretty good, service poor and no one from management ever came by and talked to the patrons, probably busy on Facebook. They are in business because of the location, presenting staff was poor, but chefs are to be commended.

Just not having luck finding good food anywhere in Estes park. This place was the same. Wants the persona of an up scale Italian restaurant-- we were severely disappointed. We went for the lunch menu. Had the house salad which was typical Italian salad.... Ok. Garlic bread was stale and bland.... Terrible. Ordered "homemade" pastas-- well my homemade pasta is much better and I've only made it once! We have had a lot of homemade pastas traveling in Italy and the U.S. This was not even close to good -- and way undercooked. So chewy I could barely eat it, and the Alfredo sauce was without taste. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi and it was tasteless shrimp covered in oil. His pasta was severely aldente as well. Worst $50 ever spent on a meal.

Had a good meal with a large group (11 hikers). They found a table for us quickly and the waitress was outstanding. She paid attention to everyone and managed to get all of our food to us quickly and hot. We got big bowls of salad family styleI, which worked for us. I had the Old World spaghetti. The sauce was great, thick and very flavorful. The homemade pasta was good, not great. There are two, ways to make homemade pasta, extruded and rolled and cut. They extrude, which makes for a chewy, often tough pasta. Mine was cooked right and about as good as extruded pasta can be, My wife had rigatoni, which was a bit overcooked. Most people were happy with their meals.

Great Italian food and reasonably priced lunch menu. Fancier than we were expecting, so we felt a little silly coming in right after hiking. Service was great and overall was a good experience.

This place was nice, the food was pretty good and the service was wonderful. The indoor dining was pretty good, but the outdoor dining on the decks looked fun too. Very pretty place. Handled the kids at our table beautifully! My chicken parm was good & others loved the lasagna. The garlic bread & salad was perfect after the long hike.

Came here for lunch with my husband the other week. We sat outside on the porch that overlooked the river and square. We split the lobster Caesar Salad and each got paninis. The salad was just ok- I wouldn't recommend it. My meatball panini was delicious! There were tasty homemade potato chips on the side, the panini bread was thin and crispy and the meatballs were great! They included a pasta sauce on the side to dip it in. Good service, yummy food and a decent ambiance.

Ok, based off of previous reviews, I can't say as though we were expecting the most amazing Italian meal ever... But it was pretty good! The location itself was gorgeous. It made me wish I had gotten married in Estes Park so we could have had our wedding reception there. I wish they had pushed their food to be a bit more amazing, but their wine flight and pretty decor made up for it. I would recommend, but I'd also say... You're in e.p......you get what you expect.

Very nice place, the service was excellent and the food was very good. The indoor dining room is very nice and the outdoor seating is nice too. Despite the hostess saying there would be a 40 minute wait they had us seated in 20-25 minutes and service was fast an efficient

This is one of the best, most romantic, restaurants I have ever been to. I go there nearly every time I am in Estes Park, which is most weekends. Right on the river walk with views of the Big Thompson River readily available to those lucky enough to have good seats on the large outdoor covered veranda. The lasagna is particularly good and the house red wine is even good! Take a stroll down the river path to walk off your meal.

Really. Good. Restaurant. Especially for Estes Park. Not divey, touristy or hipster, just a nice Italian with really good food. Especially like their flights of all sorts of drinks - wine, Scotch, whiskey, and even milk. Will definitely be here again.

Loved the food and location. Had to return the next day! I had the lasagne (half portions available too) but others seemed very happy with the meatballs. They have $1 dessert tapas. Overall reasonably priced with good ambience.

Ate here tonight for dinner and the food was awesome! I had the tomato cream spaghetti with grilled chicken, came with salad and garlic bread. Everything was delicious :)

Excellent food, excellent service. Vegetables are fresh - not frozen. Had the chicken parmigiana. Very tender. The cheese on top of the chicken wasn't simply melted on, it was broiled, exactly the way I like it! Tiramisu was fabulous. I believe the whipped cream was hand made. One of the best restaurants in town. You will face a long wait if you haven't made reservations. This is true during the week as well as the weekend. There's a good reason for that. Enjoy!

Atmosphere cozy, nice and casual. Greeter was friendly, waiter was awesome. Mini salad was perfect proportion, house dressing wonderful. Shrimp scampi was excellent with extra garlic/butter sauce. Added chicken and portions were large. Garlic toast served was great. Brought another basket without asking. Highly recommend.

This was the best restaurant we ate at the entire week of vacation. The wait staff was cordial and attentive. The food was outstanding. Our large family sampled several dishes over two days and everything was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

This review is of the food, NOT the service. The service was great! The food...not so much. I really wanted to like this place. A friend says she loves it & it's a wonderful space. The salad came family style and looked nice, very little (if any) dressing. The garlic bread was pretty good but portions tended to be small & quite inconsistent. I ordered the chicken Saltimbocca...it was disgusting. Chicken was done ok, veggies were ok but really didn't go with the dish (been to Italy & know what it should taste like), the pasta was cooked al dente but the sauce was horrid. My BF's son even said that it looked gross. I couldn't finish it & my stomach didn't feel so good afterwards despite having some ice cream down the street. I won't be recommending this place nor will I be back. One tummy ache is enough.

We love this place and enjoy a wonderful, relaxing, delicious dinner here every time we visit Estes Park. The owners Julie and Rob Piper take such care of their two restaurants (including Poppy's across the way) which I think is the key to these restaurants good food and success. We love the eggplant parmigiana and the lasagna. We always get an extra meatball on everything which is huge and delicious. I personally ask for a side of their arrabiatta (sp?) pasta, it is just the right amount of spicy. Julie introduced us to the drink called a Moscow Mule made with local honey vodka from Spring 44 in Loveland and Ginger beer all served in a beautiful copper cup. All I can say is WOW! They were delicious, you must try one. Our kids love it as well as my parents so great place for everyone.

Not good. The Spinach and Artichoke dip was cold in the middle and the Parmesan cheese on top was out of a bag. It was served with stale garlic bread and the Caesar salad dressing was bitter. The gluten free pasta was gritty, and my pasta sauce was a lake of melted butter. Not very appealing to say the least! My wife's chicken was so tough she didn't even eat it. Now, an hour later we are both extremely sick in our hotel room with terribly upset stomachs. Oh, and the worst part, our meal for 2 glasses of wine, an appetizer and 2 entrees was $80!!!! Our money would have been better spent at a mediocre chain restaurant. We will never be back when we visit Estes Park. Note to owner: Watch some of the Cooking Channel or Food Network shows and learn about using fresh ingredients.

This place is a-ok for Estes Park. I've been to several restaurants up here and most of them are pricey for what they offer like the Stanley Hotel or just kind of run down and not so great like the Dunraven. This place is somewhere in between. The food is decent and our service was great. Our waiter was knowledgeable as far as special diets and allergies. He was communicative and friendly. The food was decent as well. I got a polenta dish which was massive. Son got spaghetti and meat sauce and husband got the chicken parm. All was served with a basic green salad and some garlic bread. We wanted to sit outside but the wait was pretty long. I took a peep in the patio seating and it's nice. I'd definitely go back the next time we visit!

Great place for lunch on the river. I had a beautiful grilled vegetable salad. The warmed veg was a nice touch and the variety on the salad was great. The champagne dressing was scrumptious. Also, the salad (minus the croutons) was an easy peasy gluten free dish off the menu.

Yes!!! It is simple but delicious and consistent Italian food! But where else can you sit on the patio, on the river, listening to live music as the sun sets and the Prosecco bubbles lit by the gorgeous twinkle lights? We spend every birthday here- my daughter and I share one- and Mama Rose's has been our choice for seven years!!!! We bring friends and family and we have never been disappointed. Susan is the sweetest and very friendly to folks, and their Facebook page is a great way to stay in touch when we are stuck down in Denver ( where in my opinion is plagued by bad Italian!). We came for New Years this year. We are never disappointed by any of the baked pastas. The crab cakes, caprese, family style salad are always great. The wine flights are fun. Chocolate mousse cake, canolis-OMG. You want some chef feeding you microscopic sprouted greens with a reduced aged balsamic reduction, go to New York. Skip the mountain trip all together. If you love dining al fresco, mountain scenery, a sparkling stream with live music- this is a great spot! Relax and enjoy it!!!

I'm giving this 3 stars since its a tourist area, but ultimately just an "ok" meal. I did enjoy the wall art here and our waitress was pleasant and attentive. Our salads consisted of dry Kraft style Parmesan, sliced black olives, iceberg lettuce and red onions, nothing more. The dressing was very similar to Kraft Italian dressing, oddly sweet and flavorless at the same time. Don't expect to be wowed by the house Italian or a nice balsamic vinaigrette here. However, we did enjoy the bread and the wine list was decent. My husband got the baked pasta and subbed the shredded zucchini for noodles. I would not suggest this. The zucchini was very watery and it was clear it had not been drained/squeezed after cooking. His meal was more of a meaty tomato soup with cheese and zucchini. I ordered the meat lasagna expecting something good since they noted it was "what they're known for". Honestly, it wasn't bad but it was more like the lasagna you expect from a delivery pizza place. If you're a tourist in the area (like me!) looking for a nice meal I have to say the next night we had dinner at the cafe area of Other Side Restaurant. The Other Side wasn't as pretty as Mama Rosa but it was definitely the far superior meal. About 25% cheaper and something I look forward to visiting on our next trip.

On vacation here in Estes Park.Ate there on a Monday night, 5 p.m. 3 of us. Seated immediately. Quaint style, lots of oak paneling. Could use a little updating on the decor, especially the bathrooms. The food was good. Service was very good. My daughter and I both ordered the Pesto Linguine. Very good-would have like some whole pine nuts mixed in. Husband ordered Shrimp Scampi, came with 9 shrimp-pretty good. Had the std. Italian salad, gave us more than enough. Garlic bread comes in 3 skimpy pieces, but they bring you unlimited refills, without having to ask! Will definitely come again.

We had a very nice meal at Mama Rose's tonight. Highly recommend making a reservation, as we observed folks waiting a long time. I truly believe the $$ price rating could skew a bit higher, however the availability of half-plates worked well for our pre-teen sons who aren't sated with a kid's menu portion. Overall value of the meals we received was very good. A tasty fried cheese appetizer was followed by delicious servings of lasagna, portobello ravioli, seafood rigatoni and chicken saltimbocca. Having ordered a good spectrum of entrees and having found each to be delicious makes me comfortable to recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Estes Park who is looking for a special meal. Service was good, but is the only area that could use improvement and kept this review from being five stars.

Had a quick lunch here on 5/17/14. Food was good and I would go back. The spaghetti and meatballs was the best dish we had. I really liked their red sauce. We also had the TriColore Baked Pasta. Now this dish was good, but really greasy. Just a warning.

Great setting, our patio outdoor seating was superb; overall ambiance; service and most importantly food! Soup, salad and main course were all excellent - Minestrone soup; house salad with black olives and a fantastic dressing; Slamon pasta for me and a delicious Alfredo Chicken for my wife, great crispy garlic parmesaen bread - superb! Our wait staff was superb. After dining in Estes park for 6 nights this was the most memorable meal.

I ate dinner here with my husband and two teenage kids. The staff was friendly and the location was nicely situated on the water. But the food was terrible. We generally love Italian food and my kids love pasta from just about anywhere. But Mama's couldn't even make them happy. The food was poorly seasoned and tasted like it was previously frozen. My husbands fettuccine was clumped together and the pesto looked like it came from a jar. All of the dishes had a strange aftertaste.

Arrived at 7ish and requested a patio table and were informed it would about a 45 min wait. No problem-we headed to the lobby wine bar for a drink and visited with the manager who was super friendly. After about 30 minutes we were shown to a beautiful patio table over looking the river. Many tourists in all types of dress....very casual but an elegant restaurant. While the restaurant is very busy no one rushes you or tries to "move you along." Wait staff is friendly and visits without trying to become a member of your party. I had the Portabella stuffed ravioli with red cream sauce that was drizzled with pesto. OMG!!! one of the best meals I have had in an Italian restaurant ever!!! The house Caesar salad dressing was excellent...slightly sweet by amazing. Dinner and drinks for two $56.00 pretty perfect! Recommendations from locals were for Sweet Basilico or Mama Rose's having eaten at both....go straight to Mama's!!! By The Way- Mam'a's has a full bar and Sweet Basilico has a limited wine selection

Eating on the porch on a sunny day in Estes Park makes every restaurant a better experience. The goat cheese appetizer and the small Caprese salad were both winners. The Panini was fine could have used a spread of some sort on it to ad a little more flavor. The salami was excellent. My wife had pasta dish and it was big enough to feed two adults. Wine selection is small but reasonable and the service was good.

Good god, this was bad. To the reviewer who said those who expect something she construed as "fancy food" to go to New York, well, I think they may as well open a tin of fancy feast for something better than this place. I will note here that one should not expect decent veggies in some areas, including Estes Park, of the US. The shipping routes for produce reach these areas somewhat late in the game and it's simply an unfortunate circumstance of geography. Your best tactic during a mountain trip is to stick with the local culinary talents. BBQ is usually a good bet. Sushi, Italian, etc should be avoided. So, considering I had a good natured, realistic expectation of the salad veggies, I did wonder what demon from hell snuck into this resto's kitchen and threw Kraft parmesan cheese onto the iceberg lettuce salad. It would have been alright without it. My brother liked this especially about the salad, so bear that in mind when you read about his dish and probably the rest of this review. If you're cool with eating dehydrated cheese on iceberg salad and like to cook noodles for 20 minutes, don't mind this review. My father ordered the veal. He has little to no sensation of taste, and so he usually seasons his meals so that they are visibly altered. And, he did comment that his veal was "not very appetizing." I have only ever heard him say that about lukewarm booked hot dogs. My brother enjoyed his lasagna. He got the meaty, full size portion. His favorite part was the meat, as he really likes meat. I ordered the veggie lasagna, which had carrots in it, etc. The funny thing was that it seemed to be an Alfredo lasagna that had been portioned into a dish, bathed in a ladle of tomato sauce, and microwaved. The noodles were mush. If the Alfredo-ish goo had been ricotta, well, I don't know. It was edible but not worth the money as I could have gotten a better price and meal from the frozen section of Safeway. The upsides were that this place had some nice bottle beers that my father and I enjoyed, namely Duvel and Fat Tire. They are both Belgian brews and nice to drink. The waiter was attentive, personable. We were seated in front of a hidden dumpster, but we could have waited for a better table and chose not to. As far as the non-food experience went, we had a good time. The service and beer earned the second star, as well as the restaurant's location. Geography. Summary: overpriced, decent beer, don't eat the salad. Nice staff.

The ambiance is lovely, but the food is awful. We are not picky eaters, nor are we foodies with super high standards when it comes to dining out -- but we felt so compelled to write a review to tell you all not to eat here. Everything from the garlic bread to the salad dressing to the basic spaghetti and meatballs lacked flavor. Under-seasoned garlic bread, no-zest Italian dressing, and no richness to the sauce on the pasta -- made for a disappointing meal. Don't bother and don't be fooled by the wood-paneling in the interior.

I was thoroughly disappointed. I should have known....they were playing Frank. Poor Frank... We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip... it came out right away and looked like it had been scooped right from a steam table... and it was not a fresh bright green, more of a drab olive color... tasted like they also put nutmeg in it. There is no way it was made that same day. We ate it because we had been traveling all day and were starving... wish we hadn't. The garlic bread was meh... not very warm or garlicky and whoever cut it squeezed the bread too hard when they were cutting it.... we had to pull it apart to eat it. The only bright spot was the salad! Very fresh with a very tasty dressing. If you have to eat at this restaurant, just order the salad. Seriously....just ...the ...salad. My daughter ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo and it was so bland that we added the parmesan that was in the shaker on the table (btw... what Italian restaurant worth it's salt puts cheese shakers on the table???) My Alfredo/marinara sauce pasta was ok.... the meatball was the best part. We were tired and ordered two cannoli to go. Don't waste your money! The homemade shells tasted terrible, were half the normal size of cannoli and they were not even half filled, all for $6.50! Whoever packed it put whipped cream on them and it had melted by the time we got to our room.... yuck. Biggest waste of $60 .... ever.

ok, its hard for me to give such a harsh review, So let me explain. First of all we walked past Mama Rosas which has a patio area right next to the river walk. so we decided to eat dinner there since the weather was so beautiful, we called for a reservation because of a fellow yelpers suggestion. Were seated in a reasonable amount of time. Our waitress told us it was only her 3rd day, which was understandable. She got our drinks out fairly quickly. after that the service went down hill fast... We ordered appetizers which never came she forgot to order them. We ordered the house salad which was served family-style with parmesan- garlic french bread, both were FANTASTIC! The salad and garlic bread was supposed to be unlimited and she was oblivious, serving us bread for 2 people instead of 4 and making us hunt her down for a salad refill and bread an still didn't bring much:( Never refilled our waters at all until we were 45 minutes into the meal. We ordered the Portabella Ravioli with marinara/pesto sauce, Baked Seafood Rigatoni, and Fetticinni with chicken. the ravioli was tasteless and the sauce was greasy, the fetticcini tasted like paste with no seasoning at all and the chicken was overcooked. Now the seafood pasta was absolutely divine, the seafood was cooked to perfection, a very generous amount of sweet succulent crab and lobster and the sauce perfectly complemented the dish, and we were all jealous that we hadn't ordered it. Never did receive the appetizers. finally got our ticket which took 30 minutes to sort out the charges, my husband finally threw his hands up,paid it and told the manager it just wasn't worth hashing it out. $78 for 3 entrees, one glass of wine and a side salad. If i went back I would be ordering the salad and bread and the Baked Seafood Rigatoni. By the way it would have been relaxing next to the river on the patio listening to local musician if other things had gone more smoothly.

Beautiful location next to the river. We sat outside next to live music that was perfect. Exactly what we were looking for. There was a bit of a wait, but what a place to have to wait! The crab stuffed shrimp appetizer was good enough to get me back next time! The waiter was very attentive and friendly. I didn't much care for my pesto pasta, but I did tastings of the wife and kids plates and theirs were great! Can't wait to come back!

Wow, Mama Rose's was just like eating in my grandma 's kitchen very authentic and delicious!! Just one nibble and you know it's home made no preservatives to make you sick. Nice amount of garlic to. I would recommend it to anyone who asked! Price is reasonable for home made food. :)

I frequented this place while on vacation in Estes Park. The lunch service was fantastic! Our server was attentive and knowledgable about the menu. We sat on the deck overlooking the babbling brook which was so serene. There was some foot traffic passing by to nearby shops but it is not a noisy area. I ordered the arrabiatta, which was tasty and my bf ordered the meatball panini which he completely scarfed down in about 3 minutes! We went back for dinner and was not as impressed. Our waitress was not attentive. We all ordered a house salad and they brought it out family style with bread. They refilled the bread and salad at no extra charge, which was nice. However, they have a very small beer menu (they have a laaaarge wine menu) and seemingly little knowledge about the beers. I ordered soup and salad because I couldn't find anything else appetizing but my friends ordered the lasagna which looked delicious! They were pleased with their choice. The only thing I was looking forward to that dinner was spumoni, which they were out of. How does an Italian place run out of spumoni???

We got two meals and shared. The chicken saltimbocca was horrible.. Tasted like chicken a la king.. Menu said wine sauce but tasted like gravy out of a can. The colore paste was good but extremely small portions for the price. Even if this was the only restaurant in town... Would never return.

There are slim pickings in Estes Park for cuisine, as we realize each time we come here. We tried Mama Rose's on the recommendation of a friend, and soon regretted our choice. I ordered the Antipasto plate and a Caprese salad. The $5 salad consisted of one piece of basil and a very mealy tomato slice, although the 3 small balls of mozzarella were lovely. Then my Antipasto plate arrived, which on the menu we were given was listed as having cheese, meat and fresh fruit. Imagine my surprise when a quarter of the plate was a Caprese salad - information which would have been useful when ordering. Another quarter of the plate was made up of bland crackers and bread. The "meat and cheese" consisted of deli slices of basic provolone and salami plus a tiny pile of cubed blue cheese. There were a random pile of sweet pepper slices, a smattering of olives and canned artichoke hearts, and a smear of tasteless hummus. Technically the tomatoes were fruit... but they certainly weren't "fresh", and neither was anything else on the plate. My husband was equally disappointed in his lasagna and over-sweetened Italian soda. For $40 plus tip I would not recommend this experience to others.

Another Estes Park disappointment. It's like the owner has the goal of offering the cheapest possible ingredients, that will not possibly spoil and sell it to you for highest possible price with out the customer offering to much resistance. That is what is actually going through my mind as I tried to eat the offerings here. What a shame Estes Park cannot have a decent restaurant in this setting.

A vegetarian nightmare! Advertised vegetarian food but served me meat lasagna. When I complained they clearly couldn't care less. Had no concept that it is disgusting for a vegetarian to discover meat in the entree she is eating. Only took off the entree from the bill. Service was very slow.

The Sibling and I fell into Mama Rose's for an early Saturday dinner. We had been traveling all day, on the subway, an airplane, a rental car, and we had finally made it to Estes Park and, after only going the wrong way about 6 or 7 times, found our hotel. We were tired, headachey from the long day and the unaccustomed altitude, and ready for a good, solid meal. Since we are both vegetarians, we figured an Italian restaurant would be just right. We checked out the menu posted outside the front door and saw several possibilities. Mama Rose's has outside dining on its large front porch, and the host, as first, assumed we wanted to sit there. Although it was only 5:30pm, there was already a line. But the weather was cloudy and cool, and we preferred to be indoors. There was no wait for a table indoors, and we were seated immediately. Mama Rose's has a traditional feel to it. It's not a fast food Italian place like an Olive Garden. It looked to me like it wanted to be the kind of place where well-behaved kids were welcome, but that it catered more to adults who wanted to maybe have a drink, and enjoy a leisurely meal. Although we were both in great need of nourishment, and didn't want to wait a long time, we both were impressed and comforted by the environment. We received a basket of bread and our waters right away. The bread wasn't the greatest I've ever had, but when you're tired and hungry and out of sorts, you'll scarf it down. We quickly decided what we wanted. The waitress was prompt and took our orders. The menu lists the wines it recommends with certain entrees. I requested the wine recommended to accompany my entree, but was informed that they had run out. That was a bummer, but i substituted a glass of the house Merlot. The Merlot turned out to be very good. Friends, I wish I could tell you what we had, but it's been over a week, I didn't grab a carryout menu, and I've forgotten. What I can tell you is that we each chose a green salad with Italian/house dressing instead of soup, and we demolished that course. We both enjoyed our pastas very much. They were absolutely delicious. The sibling and I both noticed that the portions were of a reasonable size; you weren't being cheated at all, but you weren't getting some outrageous amount that reminds you all over again why so many Americans have asses the size of a Mack truck. It was just right. The price was reasonable, too. I did not feel like we were getting ripped off because we were in a vacation town. That helped my mood, too. We were tired and pleasantly full after a very enjoyable Italian dinner. The Sibling even said her headache was completely gone. I don't know that I'd describe Mama Rose's cuisine as medicinal, but it sure made us both feel better. I would definitely try Mama Rose's again.

Decent Italian food. I ordered the lasagna. It came out bubbly and in it's own dish. It was a good size. My wife ordered the spaghetti. She said it was average. But it was hot and it was a good sized portion. The kids menu is decent, however we simply gave our son a bit of ours - there was plenty. The service was good and we were seated quickly (off season). We eat out A LOT, and this was somewhat of an average experience, but recommended if you are looking for Italian in Estes Park.

I booked Mama Rose's several months ago for our rehearsal dinner spot. We had a group of almost twenty and they had our table waiting when we arrived. Unfortunately, they only had ONE server in charge of our entire group. While very nice, he was very slow and also appeared to be the one making our drinks. I don't fault him for the slow service - they knew well ahead of time how many was in our party. The food was decent with the exception of the chicken and vegetables. Family members described it as lacking any flavor. The lasagna and ravioli were both tasty.

Yes, the Stanley Hotel has ghosts. But the real paranormal activity is happening a couple miles down the road at Mama Rose's. Who knew there was a way to screw up spaghetti and meat sauce? Mama Rose knew. And unfortunately, she didn't take her secrets with her to the grave. I never saw the cookbook. Probably because there isn't one. But if there were, here's what the recipe must've read like: Take spaghetti noodles. Boil them in water for 10 min. Drain the noodles. Stick them in the microwave for 5-25 minutes. While noodles are nuking, heat five cans of tomato paste (generic; not name brand.) When noodles are done, boil them for an additional 20 minutes. At some point, mix the paste and noodles together. Or something. And that was my wife's dish. I had the Chicken Saltimbocca. Which was the poultry equivalent of a Twinkie. I don't know what it was made of, or how long it was sitting there, but I have a feeling it would survive a nuclear blast. (In fact THAT might give it some flavor.) Beautiful setting. Great service. Now if only they served food.

I have lived in Estes for almost 20 yrs & have eaten at your restaurant a number of times thru the years. Last Wednesday I had lunch there with a friend & had the worst lunch ever. I ordered spaghetti with artichoke hearts & capers & there was only 3 small artichoke hearts. Normally, the pasta is homemade, but this time the pasta was not homemade, but it wasn't even cooked! It was hard! This was the worst meal I have ever eaten...period! The meal was pricey & way overpriced for what I got. Will not go back anytime soon!

My husband and I were in the mood for italian food so we tried Mama Rose's. I had the fettuccine alfredo and my husband had the chicken parmesan. Both were terribly bland and we were really not impressed. The fettuccine was chewy and had no seasoning. My husband's chicken parmesan tasted like spaghetti made with Ragu sauce. Their garlic bread was pretty good, but other than that we were pretty disappointed.

Had dinner last night at Mama Rose's. We were a bit skeptical about it based upon some of the reviews I read here. Well, I'm sure glad I went! We had reservations and were seated promptly, Stephanie was our mostly quite attentive waitress, she was very nice and answered all of our questions, and was very accommodating. We ordered a great bottle of wine from and very extensive wine list, presentation wasn't spot on (I know enough to know it wasn't quite right, but I don't care enough to let it bother me other than to mention it here), but the wine itself was served at a proper red wine temperature. We ordered entrees next, I had the veal parmesan, my wife had the portabelo mushroom ravioli, our friends ordered the veal saltimbocca, and the vegetarian lasagna. We requested a couple of substitutions and they were granted with no questions asked. The salad and bread came first. The bread went quickly, and was frequently refilled (yummy and crunchy garlic bread). The salad was simple but delicious. Lettuce, olives, permesan cheese, and a delicious dressing. It leaned a little towards a greek salad with a sweet dressing. The meals were delivered with all requested subs in place. Temperature of the food was excellent (unlike what several other reviews mentioned), flavor was awesome. I had asked for the arribiata sauce on my pasta side and it was VERY angry, which is exactly the way I like it. No complaints from anyone at our table about the food, everyone remarked how good their entrees were. Deserts were wonderful as well. We never felt rushed as we chatted at the table for quite a while after dessert. I feel like the price of the meal was appropriate for the amount and quality of the food and the location where it was served. I understand that people have bad experiences from time to time at a restaurant, but I honestly can't see where all of these low scores come from based upon this experience, unless the entire staff was having a bad night.

This was pretty awful. Bland food, lazily prepared, and fresh ingredients are MIA. The 'fresh' tomatoes in the caprese were hard as rocks. This sort of felt like a glorified Fazoli's where you can get alcohol and sit outside under dim lighting. Only good thing (other than the outdoor seating by the river, didn't sit there but it looked agreeable) was the moderate portions that a normal-sized person can finish. Of course the prices make you think you're getting three times as much food. But really... faux Italian places like this almost always yield similarly dismaying results. So this place is no grand exception.

Ok not really a 5 but if there was a 4.5 that would be accurate. We frequently go up to Estes and we love going to both favorite places and trying new ones. I had been wanting to try Mama's for a while and I was delighted as soon as I walked in. Great warm atmosphere cozy but not dark like some Italian places. Seated immediately, greeted shortly there after by Rosa. Everything was timed perfectly by her. We got our drinks, he an Italian soda and me a glass of Cab. When they came we had decided our appetizer, ricotta rolls. The rolls came just as we decided our entrees, then a house salad came as we finished our appetizer. Right when we finished what we wanted on the salad, boom our entrees arrived. The food- you must try the rolls, it's basically fried lasagna rolls 3 of them served w/ 3 different sauces. I love the basil pesto he loved the marinara which I liked too and I'm picky about my red sauces. The 3rd spicy one was ok. That pesto one so good when we come back my entree will be something with it. The salad thou just basic iceberg had good olives and a delicious house Italian vinaigrette. The garlic bread was flavorful basic garlic bread but we were given fresh bread before we finished the 1st basket which had gotten cold. He had the lasagna which was big and cheesy. All he usually ever gets in Italian places is lasagna so he has a lot to compare it to and he really enjoyed it. I got the seafood bake. Imagine a gooey baked mac n cheese w/ pieces of lobster and crab in it. YUM...although very hot had to wait a while before I could eat it. I wish our room had a fridge I would of loved to bring home my left overs. I ordered the half portion and still couldn't finish it. Mama Rose's has now gone from a new place for us to a favorite. We can't wait to go back when it's not 15* out and sit on the patio listening to the river.

We came to Estes Park for two nights for our first anniversary. We had reservations for our second night so the first night we just picked something we saw walking around. The wait was about 30 minutes but they took our phone number so we were able to walk around the nearby shops while we waited. We were seated on the patio which is beautiful! We started with the garlic bread and then ordered the portobello mushroom ravioli with cream pesto sauce and the angry pasta. Everything was fantastic! I would definitely recommend the ravioli. Our server was very friendly and fast and the price was very reasonable! We were actually considering cancel our reservation the second night of our trip to go back to Mama Rose's!

OK...It ain't five stars. I rated it 5 because it's not as bad as some of these reviews would lead you to believe. It is a perfectly viable option for a decent meal here in Estes Park. It's Estes Park, Colorado people. This is not Chicago, New York, or the Hill in St. Louis. And it certainly ain't Rome, Tuscany, or Sicily. It's Estes-Freakin'-Park! It is not the bastion of Italian cusine. So, with that said, let's get to the business at hand. This is a review of a very simple meal at Mama Roses. My wife had a tomato cream dish and I had the spaghetti (with an added meatball). We ordered no wine and completed our meal with no dessert. We wanted to keep it very simple. Our pasta dishes were good. They were not great. They were not bad. But they were good. We are used to a lot more spice (oregano, sage, thyme, and the like). The meat sauce was rich with tomato and meat, but not as spicy as I'm accustomed to having. The tomato cream sauce was not bland, but not as full of flavor as my wife normally eats. The garlic bread was eactly that, garlic bread. Ignore all of the other reviews that claim it isn't. It contained both garlic and butter, typical ingredients in garlic bread. It was good. The salad was the usual salad you'd expect in an Italian restaurant. And there was plenty of it. All in all it was a very nice meal. Our service was great. Travis was very attentive. And he didn't treat us differently that we did not order wine. The outdoor seating was delightful. We would definitely visit again.

I was starting to have doubts about our time in Estes Park after our bad lunch. I had heartburn and wasn't really in the mood for a big dinner out. SOmeone recommended Mama Roses. We parked a way down and walked up to find it. It is in a little alcove of a shopping area. When you enter, it is not really what I would have expected. Almost like a little country inn. We were greeted immediately and given excellent service. The food was great and we really enjoyed ourselves. The waiter really catered to us.

I really do not like this place. The pasta was over-cooked and made from a package instead of fresh. And what does it take to get some flavor around here? Jolene said in her review exactly what I said at the table..."Better Italian at Olive Garden" and I hate chain restaurants. They did a decent job getting our group of 13 food out and getting the orders right though. The only other problem was that someone noticed a lemon seed in their water glass...how it got there is still a mystery since lemons were not in the water...gross!

Well, it really is not 5 stars, but I am giving it 5 to help boost the overall rating. The scathing reviews do not seem at all warranted after our experience. We had a gift card given to us and so we went here not by choice and we were quite concerned about what to expect based upon some terrible reviews posted. And you know what? We were pleasantly corrected. People. This is a family Italian restaurant. It is not super upscale. But it is in a lovely little culdesac (sp?) next to the river with a darling wrap-around patio. When we arrived the place was super busy and on a wait. Good thing we made reservations. The hostess was very sweet and got us to our table almost immediately. The server was tremendously nice and on task. We had our drinks, bread, salad all in quick order. The salad was really tasty and they bring you a bowl (kind of like Olive Garden). I thought the dressing was really good and ate every bite. The garlic bread was moist and flavorful and they keep it coming if you want more. We ordered the lasagna which was the one item that seemed to get ok reviews on yelp. It was good. Not mind blowing, but good. There was a bit much cheese making it a bit too gooey but just order less cheese or don't eat all the cheese. We ordered raspberry sorbet for dessert and it was a nice finish. All told; with large salad between us, garlic bread, 2 lasagna dinners, glass of wine and dessert the bill was 50 bucks. The honest , non-snob score for this pace is a solid 3 stars: "A-OK."

After spending an afternoon at the Stanley hotel, my dad, my husband, and I chose Mama Rose's for dinner. The first thing I noticed was that there were a lot of silver-haired diners, and a lot of them looked like locals. This wasn't too surprising. The prices were reasonable, the ambiance was cozy, the service was very attentive and courteous and the food was pretty good. The three of us cleaned our plates and burned through two bread baskets. Maybe it was the mountain air that made us so ravenous. Sadly, the pasta was a little overcooked. :( Still, I'd give them another chance if I'm in the area.

We had good memories of this places from 8 years ago, so we decided to try it again - this time with our two young children (5 and 7). The food was uniformly excellent, and reasonably priced. We had the portobello mushroom ravioli, the lasagna, and spaghetti with meatballs - all very tasty and well cooked. The portions are on the moderate side, so if you're used to Texas-sized helpings, you may want to order and appetizer or two. There was a reasonable kids menu and the dishes were good as well. I suppose the wine could have been served a little cooler, but this was a minor issue to me. The only hiccup was that our waiter, while attentive, was quite inexperienced and got a few things wrong (wrong meal for one of the kids, forgot the meat added to my pasta), but he corrected things quickly. We'll definitely visit here again. Probably the best Italian food for the price I've had in a long time.

The place has been recommended many times but I had never gone until recently. It looks generic American I-talian and in a tourist spot, needless to say I wasn't rushing over. With that said, the wine list is amazing and would rival the top 5 wine lists in Boulder. The selection and diversity was impressive. The prices were legitimate. I liked the salad, but I like a sweet dressing which it was. The garlic bread, as generic as that might be was tasty. I had pesto shrimp sub rigatoni and the rigatoni was cooked about 2 days too much. It was so over cooked it was more like short spagetti. They remade it for me but it was still over cooked. The tourist masses I don't imagine prefer "al dente" so my bad but considering the wine list and some of the creative items on the menu I just ass-u-me'd! the pesto was only ok, the arriabiatta was pretty tasty but I feel like the spice was only crushed red pepper flakes and nothing fresh. Othewise the tomato sauce was fresh tasting. Of all the dishes in our group the eggplant parm was the most tasty. Thin breading cheese and sauce with steamed veggies. That was good otherwise the winelist carried the food by a steep margin. The dining room is large and generic Italian restaurant feeling. They do have a patio facing the river which is a good draw.

Wow, this was just awful. It started with the cold hard garlic bread, which was sent back, the salad was next, which was iceberg lettuce swimming in what appeared to be wishbone Italian dressing and sprinkled with canned Parmesan cheese! Should have got the check and ran, however ordered the eggplant Parmesan, huge mistake, the pasta was WAY overcooked and covered what looked and tasted like warm tomato paste. The eggplant itself was soggy and just terrible, this was also sent back, I was then presented with the Chicken Saltimbocca. - I did not think it could get worse but i was very wrong! The veggies looked like them came right out the birds eye frozen section, and the sauce that was on the chicken was a gelatinous chicken broth and flour mixture, seriously disgusting! If you would like a cold Peroni by the river then this is your place but DO NOT EAT!

Made reservations and we were seated at a cozy table in the corner to celebrate my birthday. Decor and atmosphere were nice, I LOVE Christmastime! I ordered one of the wine samplers that came with three different half glasses of wine. Pretty tasty. Bread came with my meal and it was delicious! Super dense and chewy - yum! This is about all the major positives I experienced. I chose the portobello ravioli with creamy tomato sauce and grilled chicken. The pasta seemed frozen or mass produced. The chicken tasted just. like. chicken. and nothing else. No seasonings. Ick. The creamy tomato sauce was alright, the marinara was MUCH tastier! Oh, and my food came to me less than steaming. Service was acceptable, nothing all that exciting. Not worth the price of the food.

My husband and I dropped in for lunch today, not expecting much from this place. The pizza place across from them was packed but Mama Rose's still had many seats. We ordered the daily pasta, which was a portobello mushroom ravioli, and a grilled veggie pannini. Both dishes tasted so delicious! The tomato sauce with the ravioli was very good and pasta tasted fresh and al dente. The grilled veggie pannini was good (although we've had better), but it came with fresh home-made chips which were very crispy. Service was as expected and prices were reasonable.

After a day of playing in the snow up in Rocky Mtn National Park and touring the Stanley Hotel I was looking forward to some Great Italian food. Mama Rose's was suggested by a few friends as well. The bottle of white wine came out barley cooler than room temp. Round one of food the Appitizer: Riccotta rolls. The first one we bit into was still frozen in the middle. I am NOT one to complain about my food so i just kept going. The second one was warm not hot. The third was cooked all the way through. The ceasar salad was great! I ordered the Lasagna SCORE! My buddy ordered ravioli with shrimp. I have never seen Shrimp in pasta with the tail still on. That seemed pretty odd. Over all it was a good value with a lot of food and a decent price and good service.

Went for their wine pairing dinner. The place is well decorated and spacious, the atmosphere is nice. We started with a caprese salad, then mushroom raviolis, eggplant parmesan, and finished with chocolate cannelloni. The wine pairing was OK, not really impressed by it. The food itself was supreme and super delicious. There were only two waiters running around, which seems to be the running joke here in Ester Park. But, our waiter was attentive and got us everything we asked for in a timely manner. The kids ordered the spaghetti dinner for two which was more food then they needed. That was a $12 plate which was a great value! Our total bill was $92 without a tip. Its a nice restaurant with great food, and the price reflects that. I do not feel bad about paying that price at all, it was well worth it. I would go back on a weekly bases. KC from Austin, TX

To be fair, I have only eaten here once. But that one experience will keep me from coming back. I ordered a gluten free pasta dish for $12 0r $13. It was the worst pasta dish I have ever had! It was incredibly oily...the sauce seemed to be pure oil that was covering my entire plate and pasta. The tomatoes were shredded so fine it was hard to taste them and then there was a basil that didn't have much flavor, that was it. I asked about the artichokes that had also been listed on the menu for this dish. The waiter informed that they were not gluten free, therefore had not been added. If I had known that when I ordered, I may not have ordered this dish. It was gross and I was annoyed that they had me pay an extra $2 or $3 for gluten free pasta, but they did not bother to say anything about the artichokes. I also ordered a salad, the salad was also lacking in taste...as if the ingredients were just super low quality. It's fine if you choose to serve this type of food, just don't charge so much. The waiter was nice, that's the only really good thing I can say about this place. I had looked at their website and it sounds great, the experience...not so much.

Lunch: meat and cheese platter with olives, artichoke pieces, balsamic and a spicy ground mustard, I had ricotta ravioli cooked with a bit of olive oil and tangy lemon (delicious), and Doyle had portobello mushroom ravioli with a creamy tomato sauce, desserts, cannoli for Doyle and a super duper tasty chocolate espresso bread pudding for me...we took home a box of leftovers.....the cheeses were very very good on the platter. All the food was wonderful, the service was super. I would definitely go back, prefer lunchtime and of course since it is winter, lots of room to sit.

My husband and I stopped here for dinner the local restaurant guide made it look pleasing. Ragu at home would be better. My husband had the lasagna and I had the eggplant parmigiana. Both were lacking in flavor and presentation. Don't waste your time here. We should have known better when the hostess wore faded jeans and a hoodie. At least the waiters were dressed and acted appropriately.

Ate there Sat 9/1/2012, the worst experience in over 5 years. My wife orders the Mama Rosa Special, four curses with a three Inge flight. I order the same with a side of Italian Sausage. In a couple of minutes the waiter appears with my wife's soup and first glass of wine. "Where's mine?" " You order a side of sausage." " I ordered the same thing she did with an additional side of sausage." Really if a couple in there mid fifties sits down to dinner and the wife orders a four course meal with a three wine flight wouldn't you question if the man orders only a side of link sausage? After that everything was off, salad comes out for both of us along with my soup and two of the wine flights. Also this bizarre "grilled bread" that can best be described as a pancake size so papilla complete with honey. In the midst of my salad a kid comes out of the kitchen with my side of sausage!! Then they forgot the third wine with the main curse AND the waiter didn't realize the spumoni was part of the special so we had to flag him down, then he had to check, etc. naturally with everything off timing food wasn't hot. Miserable meal

If call for reservation make sure they call u back. We called and had reservation for 5 and I called to confirm and they did not have our reservation and made no effort to try and make arrangements for us. Bad business.

This is one of my favorite spots in Estes Park. As a local, I appreciate a restaurant that is priced fairly and not geared to just tourists. The pasta is fresh, portions are great and they have a wine list that can't be beat. If you're lucky enough to be here in the summer, be sure to grab a table on the patio, it's right by the river and is a great way to spend the evening.

It's pretty good, fair prices, but it's definitely Italian food from an older, more forgiving era. Babbo it ain't, but is that such a bad thing?

This place is not worth going to. Our waiter was far from personable and the food was less than average. I honestly would rather go to Olive Garden.

We used to vacation in Estes, and had never tried Mama's, we now live ver near here, and it wasn't until last year we finally tried it. We were evacuated from our home due to fire and stayed in our camper that night. We decided to walk down to Mama's and give it a try. We were lucky enough to sit on the patio by the river, which was beautiful, even though inside was just as nice. I ordered a "wine flight", which I've never had before. What a delight to see three half filled wine glasses in this beautiful iron display, and they all tasted wonderful. I don't remember what my husband had, I just remembered he enjoyed it. I remember what I had because I have had the same thing ever since! If y'all go, do yourself a favor and have the crab stuffed shrimp appetizer....it's unreal! and the spicy sauce to dip that comes with it is close to drinkable...our waitress was very sweet and we chatted with her a bit about what was going on and why we were not at our house...well, to our surprise, when she came out wil the bill, our meal was comped by the restaraunt for us....as a local in this small town, that made my heart smile. We have brought multiple friends back and they all enjoyed it. Often I run over on my lunchbreak to pick up a to go of their super delicious house salad....again, that dressing is nearly drinkable...tonight, we are again out of our house due to this record breaking High Park fire, this time so far only due to smoke, and I just made reservations at Mama's and am in my office drooling just waiting for my wine flight and crab stuffed shrimp....and of course, my reservations are on the patio. Not going to discuss being out of the house again with the wonderful wait staff, I am more then happy to give them my money, this place is well worth it....a pure treat....

I would not recommend going to this restuarant. The chicken was the kind that is pre-grilled, frozen, thawed, and then microwaved. The lines on the chicken were not authentic grill lines. The waiter broke the cork in the wine bottle and then had to take it back to the kitchen to get the wine cork out. ??? The garlic bread was the Peppridge Farm frozen kind. It was not worth it at all. I love food and this was the first time I actually did not eat my meal. We will never go back here ever.

Yummy To My Tummy! From the Merlot to the Spumoni this was nice experience! My wife and I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp and the house special, you know it is difficult to ruin spaghetti but when it is done well it can be great and Mama's got it going on! Setting alongside of the Big Thompson River with rain coming down, sipping Merlot nibbling on flat bread was relaxing, ok maybe the Merlot played into it...BTW it was the house Merlot, very smooth! Mama's touts homemade food's and certainly it was, the romaine salad was fresh with what seemed a lite mustard vinaigrette, the noodles - tender and chewy at the same time! It reminded me of a little secret I learned years ago...sorry but I charge for this kind of secret! The sauce, oh the sauce, was it the sauce with noodles or the sauce with the flat bread or the sauce with the garlic bread...oh I can't make up my mind!

Food is ok. Server was not good. Received appetizer quickly, but waited about 25 minutes for a side salad after finished with app. When we asked for the salad he said I was waiting for you to finish with your app, rudely. Sooooo when finished our salad we asked to have our entree, given the above experience. The waiter, rudely said, "I don't make the food." Really? Not the experience we were hoping for....way overrated!

Out of this world. I spent 2 years in Italy, and this was just as good or even better. Had the Momma Rosa's Special, absolutely mind blowing food and wine.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
